Swiss Scales Seoul
Exhibition Design @ Korea Foundation Cultural Centre
For the Swiss Positions + Swiss Scales exhibition at the Korea Foundation Cultural Centre in Seoul, South Korea, Future Cities Laboratory-researchers were invited to present their work on innovative and sustainable technologies for buildings. Topics included solutions for air conditioning, sustainable building materials and robotically fabricated concrete walls for material efficiency.
Working closely with the researchers, I designed the exhibition space and coordinated the production and installation. As I wasn't there in person, it was quite a challenge to make sure everything was installed exactly as I intended.
A stylised skyscraper marks the centre of the room. Red threads lead from the researched part (of the building) to the four respective projects displayed in white ‘windows’. The building is laser cut in white and applied directly to the black wall. Each window contains two large, detailed images on photographic paper, as well as smaller, explanatory images, a screen with short clips and bilingual project descriptions in English and Korean. The typography for the Korean labels was actually the biggest challenge. I'm still not sure if there weren't any typos.
